Little Red Riding Hood's roots

Little Red Riding Hood

Once upon a time there was a little girl. Her grandmother gave her a hood of red velvet, and because the little girl looked so sweet in it, and never wanted to wear anything else, they called her "Little Red Riding Hood"…

Young women in the Schwalm region wear the red hood when they put on their imposing Schwalm traditional costume for special occasions. And we are happy to believe that the Brothers Grimm found inspiration for the popular fairytale here in the Schwalm. Wilhelm and Jakob Grimm lived in Kassel, and discovered the templates for the well-known fairytales in their home region of North Hesse. The fairytales by the Brothers Grimm have attained international renown as a UNESCO world heritage document!

Little Red Riding Hood opened her eyes, and when she saw how the sun's rays danced back and forth in the trees, and how everywhere was full of beautiful flowers, she thought …
… how lovely it is here in this region! And about all the things that can be experienced here: bicycle riding, hiking and Nordic Walking; golf, horse-riding and gliding sports; water skiing, bathing and relaxing. Experience the rural culture in the historic half-timbered towns, in castles and palaces shrouded in legend, and in lively museums! (And the wolf is well looked after in the wildlife park at Knüll!) The way to Rotkäppchenland is not hard to find. It is situated in North Hesse, in the centre of Germany, and can easily be reached via the A4, A5, A7 and A49 motorways.
Take the time to discover and to feel at home in Rotkäppchenland, in the centre of Germany! We are looking forward to seeing you!
